Be the Bolt is a nonprofit foundation that supports young adults facing cancer and the families walking beside them. Our mission is to help ease the everyday burdens of treatment through practical support, thoughtful gifts, and moments of joy that remind people they aren’t alone.

Founded by Shayla Lanzon after her own stage 4 colon cancer diagnosis at age 33, Be the Bolt grew from a deeply personal understanding of how quickly cancer changes everything. Life becomes appointments, treatments, and uncertainty, while bills, parenting, and everyday responsibilities keep moving.

Our name is a call to action: be the spark, reach out, and make a difference for someone who needs it. Together, we can bring comfort, connection, and brighter moments to life during cancer.
